I am screwed....
Dec 5, 2006
Holy cow.

I just got the numbers back from a simple health screening and I'm freaking out. First, my personal stats:

Age: 36
Height: 6' 6"
Weight: 240 lbs
Health: Moderate. I've had to have my gall bladder removed because of gallstones. Other than that, no problems. In fact, I'm rarely, if ever, sick.
Family History: While heart disease does run in the extended family, My mother and father are still alive at 75 and all of my siblings (9 in all) are all still around. All test very high for cholesterol and triglycerides.
Exercise level: Poor. I bike and walk, but nothing like I should.

Now, for the results:

triglycerides: 660 - Is that even possible? I've never heard of them being so high. I know the lab technicians had to be laughing and saying "This guy's going to die."

hdl 51 - Okay, but not great.

ggt 139 - I drink way, way too much beer.

ldl 332 - A problem, considering all of the other factors.

Here's my game plan. Obviously, changes in diet need to occur. I need to cut out the carbs and reduce the fat. Next, I have to cut out the beer (I'm just sick thinking about it). Some kind of aerobic exercise will be necessary. Finally, I'll have to go on some kind of statin. With these kinds of numbers and my genetic predisposition, I'm not sure that I have a choice. I'm thinking that I should go after the triglycerides with tricor. I know better than to try to mix tricor with lipitor and such, so I'm banking on the tricor.

How does this sound? Any other suggestions (besides a home defibrillator system in every room?)

Thanks,

JebusJuice
