In Sept. 06 my cholesterol numbers were as follows:
TC 271, LDL 177, HDL 72, TR 109
I changed my diet, started to exercise and take fish oil supplements, metamucil and eat oatmeal. Although these dietary changes caused me to gain 7 lbs., my cholesterol numbers improved. In January the numbers were as follows:
TC 245, LDL 167, HDL 62, TR 78
I continued my new lifestyle but have had a lot of indiscretions. My weight gain has remained with me. The only other change I made was to add 1200 mg. of red yeast rice daily about 2 weeks ago. Yesterday, we had a health fair at work, (ran by the major medical center in my area) so I had my cholesterol tested. They only did a total cholesterol and I had eaten. My TC was 205. At first I was thrilled, but then I started to doubt this result. The red yeast rice could not have worked this fast.
The machine they used did a blood sugar level as well. How accurate are these machines?
