|
Relay depends on your situation. If your LDL is very high you will need to take a statin to bring it down. If you have low HDL and good LDL then go Niacin.
Thanx Arizona. I was diagnosed with hyperlipidemia 1 year back. I am taking statins since then.My levels 1 year back and present are given below:
1 yr. back -> Now
----------- ------
LDL 172 -> 62
HDL 45 -> 47
Total Chol. 256 -> 155 Triglycerides 196 -> 232
I think my HDL and LDL are OK but the problem is with my Triglycerides. It has not come down.
Thanx Arizona. I was diagnosed with hyperlipidemia 1 year back. I am taking statins since then.My levels 1 year back and present are given below:

Great improvement over all. Yes you will need to get your Triglycerides down a bit more. Less than 150...Niacin works very well for that, so does supplementing with Omega 3 fish oil. Try and stay away from high sugar foods, carbs and alcohol. There is a possibility you could add a low dose of Niacin to bring your triglycerides more. However, it would be best to talk with your Doctor if you are going to be on Statin/Nicain therapy together. If that is the case your Doctor will closely monitor you.
