It's probably a good thing I didn't try it then, as I'm currently taking aged garlic too. I wasn't aware of the blood thinning aspects.

I'll know more as to how well niacin is working (or not working) with my next blood test. I did get it tested after being on 500mg niacin for about 2 months, and got a rise from a god awful HDL of 27 to a slightly less awful 33. I'm also correcting a vitamin D deficiency, so hopefully it'll keep going up.

Hi Namelessme,

Hang in there buddy. Like wise prior to taking Niacin my HDL was at 34 a year ago. After a sold six months of taking 2,000mg immediate release my HDL went up to 70. I have never had my HDL that high. So hang in there you should see more positive results the longer you take Niacin. Great idea with the Aged Garlic Extract. If offers so many other health benefits. Garlic has been used for over 5,000 years and it is one of the best things for over all health. Also as your Vitamin D levels go up you should see an improvement with your HDL. Hang in there every thing will work out :)
