| Hi There, first time poster here. I am a 25 y/o female, and am not new to taking prescription drugs by any means, seeing as how I also suffer from hypothyroidism, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, insulin resistance, high blood pressure, as well as a myriad of psychiatric conditions such as Bipolar Disorder. I have been on meds since I was 18, and usually have a pretty good med tolerance. Any way, two weeks ago I was at my GP for a check-up, and they tested my cholesterol and triglycerides. Don't remember what the number's were exactly, seeing as how I was shopping in Super Wal-Mart when they called and didn't write them down. (ARGH.) I believe the triglyceride number was around 400, and I don't remember what the cholesterol was. But the nurse told me I was at risk for heart disease, and they started me on TriCor, 145mgs. The second day on this med, I started having horrible dizzy spells, everything was spinning and I even blacked out a couple of times. Then a few days after that, I started having severe abdominal pain, along with a fever, extreme nausea, and feeling very weak and tired all the time like I had the flu. I haven't taken the TriCor for 3 days now, and am starting to feel better. Still very sore muscles and tiredness.
So I have started to do my research, and I think I would like to attempt to go the natural route with this issue. I have read about a low-carb diet, and about taking fish oil and niacin, but what all do I need to know about starting down this path? I'm going to surf around on this board and see what else I can find, but any help/advice at all is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. |
