Re: Salmon Oil
Jun 24, 2003
To the best of my knowledge, you can derive pretty much the same benefits from salmon oil as you would from the rest of the omega-3 fish oil products, although salmon oil is more costly. I really don't know if there are any additional advantages from taking salmon oil. Fish oils have been shown to exert beneficial effects on blood pressure, triglycerides, and even cholesterol. In fact, I have heard of one study in which group cholesterol levels dropped from 370 to 204. But in order to do that, you have to be willing to swallow quite a few fish oil capsules. In this study, the subjects were given 60 large fish oil capsules each day! So yes, I suppose it is possible to lower your cholesterol with them. It's just a question of how many of them you would need to take.
