I'm just venting here...hope nobody minds.

I have been reading up on natural remedies to lower my cholesterol and triglycerides for a couple of weeks now. I have been to every website there is on the subject...well maybe not EVERY one, but it FEELS like it. I have finally compiled of list of what to take to lower my numbers. (I can't take statins...I've tried ALL of them, and can't take the muscle pains.)

Here is what I've come up with:

Fish Oil Capsules - should take 3000 mg per day.

Guggul or Gugulipid - should take 25 mg 3 x per day...making sure that the guggul should contain 2.5 mg of guggulsterones.

Patethine or Pantothinic Acid (B5)- should take 300 mg 3 x per day.

Niacin-as Inositol Hexaniacinate. (safer form of Niacin from what I've read.) 100 to 500 mg per day.

Toctrienols (VitE) 50 - 100 mg per day.

Policosonal - 20 mg per day.

Calcium - 800 mg per day.

Metumucil (psyllium husk) 3 x per day.

So I clicked on over to the VitaminShoppe, and WOW! Do you have ANY IDEA how much it would cost me to take all of these supplements in these dosages? A few hunderd dollars per month at least!

Now I don't know what to do. I am now looking at some of the combination Cholesterol Vitamin mixes. You know, the ones made that have a combination of stuff in them. I can't find ANY that have more than three of the items listed above, and they all have a lot more stuff than I wanted to take. But I think that's the only way I can afford this route!

So, anyone have any opinions on what the MOST important cholesterol lowering vitamins/herbs are? I'm leaning towards:

Fish Oil
Policosonal
Guggul
Niacin.

Any comments would be appreciated! Thanks!
