I don't post often, but I read the board to see if there is anything new and exciting in the world of cholesterol. Today I was happily surprised at my latest numbers:

Total Cholesterol: 177
HDL: 58
LDL: 97
Triglycerides: 108

For a few years, I have used diet and exercise to keep my numbers acceptable. Despite working hard, my HDL had never risen above 44, my LDL had never been below 109, and my triglycerides had never been below 127. Today's numbers seem unreal to me, and a small part of me wonders if I got someone else's results by mistake. :D

I've done a few things differently between blood tests, but overall I've kept most of the same diet and exercise. I added one serving of lentils to my daily diet, a suggestion I found on this board several months ago. Also, I've added more olive oil and walnuts daily, but only a small amount more. My favorite change is increasing my red wine drinking to equal one 5 oz. serving a day. I was never a teetotaler, but I never made a point of having one per day. Fortunately, it did not drive up my triglycerides, which was my fear.

Although always a walker/exerciser who usually got in 30 minutes daily, a few months ago we got two cocker spaniel puppies. They usually walk me for 30 - 45 minutes most mornings, so with my other routines, maybe I'm getting a little more exercise than before.
