Tricor for low HDL?
Nov 19, 2008
My son's doctor just prescribed Tricor for his low HDL. He is 48, a lean runner, his HDL is 22 and total cholesterol is 190. Obviously he doesn't have high trigs, which is usually the reason for prescribing Tricor. Tricor doesn't make sense to me. Is there any evidence that it would help his HDL? He has been resistant to taking statins, but taking Tricor would be much like taking a statin as I understand it. Please advise.
