Ace - your doctor should know that niacin lowers Lp(a).

TP
Very True, Perhaps he does. If it's not in the PDF, 100% proven with placebo trials, his attitutude is luke warm. I know he is not a big fan of Niacin or of taking Fish Oil. He is very Pro-Vitamin D lately. He prescribed Lovaza (prescription Omega 3) but he really believes its' better to include a fatty fish in your typical diet at least 3 times a week. He also said the Niacin side effects have been unbearable to most of his patients and Statins and Fibrates are the first choice. My doctor is excellent, but he is very typical and conventional in his approches. My mom's cardiologist has recommended Co-Enzyme Q10, Folic Acid, B6, Fish Oil, and Vitamin E (natural), aside from her medications.

If you compare the EPA and DHA in the fatty fish to the amount in a Lovaza pill, it does look like he has a point there. Plus some types of fish are good sources of vitamin D.
