Re: Lescol
Nov 20, 2009
Statins are all pretty similar. Some stronger than others. The most dangerous statins are Lipitor and Crestor (which is known to cause kidney damage) at high enough doses. This is why the drug was cited by the FDA not to exceed 40 mg, as opposed to 80 mg. Crestor is known as the "Gorilla" statin. It's apparent that your definitely having problems with statins. Lescol and Pravachol are the weakest of statins. Maybe it's possible to try a more natural, yet proven way to lower cholesterol. The vitamin Niacin is a more natural way of lowering cholesterol and raising the good HDL. It is available as a prescription known as "Niaspan". You take it in the evening before bed time. (Ask your doctor) You can also add Omega-3 fish oil and Nature Made "Cholestoff" (Plant Sterols) which help lower lower cholesterol and triglycerides.
