| Please don't stop the Niaspan!! 10mg Lipitor is not enough to handle those high cholesterol numbers! Niaspan will cut those Triglycerides over 30%. You never mentioned HDL levels, but I am sure they are well below 60. Niaspan will get the HDL up. Usually, diabetics will have slightly elevated LDL, very high Trigs and very low HDL. Diabetics also have Pattern B "small, dense" LDL which is 30 times more atherogenic than "large, boyant"LDL in Pattern A. If you need more Trig lowering and HDL raising, add a low dose fibrate to the 10mg Lipitor and 2,000mg Niaspan.
After a blockage is cleared from an artery, niacin will reduce the chances of that artery from being re-blocked by a magnitude of 5 times over the next couple years. |
