High Cholesterol Message Board

High Cholesterol Board Index

Well, I suppose you can get retested, but I suspect these numbers are probably correct because it depicts a typical pattern that happens quite often when someone goes on a strict low-fat, high carb diet. While LDL does tend to decrease, so does HDL, and it's usually accompanied by an increase in triglycerides. Probably the reason why your HDL remained the same is because it was already quite low to begin with. This is one reason why I am not an advocate of low-fat diets. Even though LDL is lowered, HDL suffers as well, triglycerides rise, and this often leads to an LDL that is predominantly Pattern B, which is small, dense LDL particles.
