| Hi all,
I'm just after some advice..
I'm a 30 year old female with high cholesterol, my numbers are: total: 247
LDL: 170
HDL: 70
Trigs: 44
My cholesterol has always been high, since it was first tested ages ago - I've managed to lower it a little once naturally but it didn't seem to last. I'm seeing a new doctor as I have moved and she freaked about these results wanting to put me on meds. I flat out refuse. After doing my own research I believe having high cholesterol but good ratios is not a dangerous thing.
I also have low/normal blood pressure, no family history of heart disease (however my dads side a lot do have high cholesterol), I exercise regularly, eat fairly well (a little too much sugar admittedly but am trying to be healthier) and just a little bit overweight - but just had a baby 4months ago so in the process of losing it.. also don't smoke, don't drink much.. etc
So am I right in thinking my numbers are ok - they just always have been high no matter what I do, but my ratios are fine. Of course I would like my LDL lower but I don't know if its a big deal or not? I would ask a professional but they just seem hell bent in the drug option.. not so keen on that!
Thanks :) |
