... I think that you are getting good advice from your doctor. I started on 500mg niaspan for one month . Then 1000 mg for 3 months. I then switched to 2000 mg of niacin and after 3 months on niacin had dramatic increase in my HDL. I think that taking the niaspan was the secret to buildin g up tolerance for regular niacin. ...
