Mark, You are right that combining statins and tricor can be dangerous - it greatly increases your chances of muscle problems, and should only be done if you continue to have high triglycerides while on a statin alone. I fall into that category. I was on Lipitor for over 7 years and then my doctor combined it with Tricor. Within a few months I had chronic muscle pains... (15 replies)

... Hmm... Fish oil isn't an especially expensive supplement. Or you can get it as a prescription product, so it'd have the same exact co-pay as Tricor. If it was me, I'd at least try fish oil + statin before going on Tricor. Worst case, you get the health benefits from omega 3s, even if it doesn't reduce triglycerides enough.
