... Hi Hubble....the reason they can't get your LDL level is when the triglycerides are high, they have to do another test called a direct LDL and your doc didn't order that...he just did a lipid profile. I have to remind mine to order the direct LDL when he checks my lipids. ... (8 replies)

... Yup, my trig did drop very dramatically but it actually took about 6 weeks. During that time I cut-off sugar stuffs completely (and I mean completely, no soft drinks, no sugar in tea/coffee, no chocolate, no ice cream, no cake), reduce my carbonhydrate intake by 30%, stop all red meats and deep fried foods and excercise 5 times a week, plus daily Omega-3 intakes. ... caffeine" standard, I cannot say for sure what the effect of a cup or two is but the last couple tests WITH coffee have been LDL's in the low 60's and triglycerides under 100. My guess is the effect is low. Perhaps either sugar or fat in my coffee would make more of a difference but I don't use either. ... (7 replies)
