... Hello, Adding meat will not lower your cholesterol. I'm not sure about the fish oil thing. Since you're vegetarian, you could get the same benefits of fish oil from flax seed. You can even grind it up in a coffie grinder. The one egg per week shouldn't hurt you, but I wouldn't increase the egg thing. You might want to want to watch the soy products and any dressings or sauces... (15 replies)

There is actually no problem with the HDL, but if I can raise it, my ratio will that much better. My doctor, like yours, wants me on Lipitor, and I've refused it. ... Have you tried Red Yeast Rice (Nature's Plus) to lower your LDL? Your Niacin should be Flush Niacin; if so, yes, ramping up slowly to 1500mg or higher should raise your HDL. If you don't get enough fiber a fiber supplement, like Psyllium husk capsules, would also help greatly. Best with this. Tess (10 replies)
