Chronic Fatigue Message Board

Chronic Fatigue Board Index

I have been sick for 15 years. Originally I was told that I might have MS. Later I was told that it was Chronic fatigue syndrome. Just recently I have been diagnosed with Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis at a major MDA clinic in New York. I become paralyzed after rest when exercising. I can exercise fine, but when I sit down afterwards, I can freeze up from 20 minutes to 6 hours. I also have sudden attacks without exercising. At night I may wake up and be unable to even wiggle my toes, walk, or use hands. I have to lay there for several hours until it goes away. Eating carbohyrdates, salt and exercise causes my potassuim to drop, even the smallest amount can paralyze me. For years, I was told that it was all in my head. I don't have any pain. I just suddenly become dead weight. Most doctors have never seen this disorder because it is so rare. I had to go to a neurologist that specializes in this disease. For 15 years I was told that it was just fatigue, and I beleived it because there was no other answer.
