Chronic Fatigue Message Board

Chronic Fatigue Board Index

Hi GLAMKAT, I would like to reply to youre question. Let me start off by saying I am a 31 year old male, I was diagnosed with FIBROMYALGIA in 2000-01 and later with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

I can honestly say I know what you are going through :(. All the symptoms you mentioned from fatigue, muscle and joint pain, brain fog, bloating, weakness and extreme sleepiness, cold spells, fever ect. I have experienced and still do as well. I am not informed enough about hypothyroidism but youre symptoms match those of CFS and Fibromyalgia. These two syndromes are very closely related.

I would reccomed that you purchase a book on CFS and Fibromyalgia if you would like to find out more. There are many out there now. I have very good one,"Alternative Medicine Guide to Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia and Environmental Illness". It was about $25, but you can get a used one much cheaper.

Diagnosis was determined by elminating all other alternative illnesses first untill
CFS and Fibromyalgia were left. I do recall feelling terrible for months, untill one day I was hit with such a strong fever, I couldnt get out of bed for 2 days. Major inflamation all over body, weakness, exhaustion, barin fog and confusion, body aches all over. I had never experienced anything like it before. When i recovered days later, the symptoms slowly returned weeks later and new symptoms appeared. And now Depression.

I was a very energetic person as well, always on the go. Since then i had to make a lot of lifestyle changes. I still excercise, but very moderate, diet is very important, eliminating bad foods like fast food and sugar, alcohol as well.
I have tried sleeping 10+ hours a night when I feel tired but it does not help much. The fatigue for me is so unbarable at times like you have mentioned you just want to sleep forever. Getting out of bed on bad days is a challenge. I am now taking tylenol 3 for the aches and fatigue, It helps but
I think I need something stronger.

Let me end by saying I hope you feel better. I would definitely recommend seeing youre doctor about CFS & Fibromyalgia because I think it might be the underlying condition. I would also seek a second opinion from another doctor because there are many doctors out there who do not believe that CFS exists.

One more thing about medications that have come out for CFS & fibro. (like tramadol) Doctors are very hesitant to prescribe them because of their side effects, dependancy, and I do think they are unsure of their safety.

I hope I have in some way helped Glamkat ;) I will leave my e-mail in case
you want to contact me. Take care.
