... Hi there - I see Dr. Lerner and was diagnosed with EBV, HHV6 and Lyme Disease. I am currently taking Valcyte. I was originally taking 900 mg in the morning, and 450mg at night, but I could hardly walk (was told this is an excellent prognostic indicator). I have since reduced the dose to just 450mg at night and seem to be tolerating that well. I completed 42 days of IV... (7 replies)
... Hi--I have long-standing CFS with high titres to HHV-6 and CMV, but no EBV. Is there anyone who has used Valtrex successfully for HHV-6? I know it's not supposed to be effective against CMV. My doc is hesistant to prescribe Valcyte, due to toxicity concerns, though it seems that's what Montoya at Stanford and Lerner in Michigan are using for CMV. Would love to hear from... (7 replies)

... I first think you need a doctor that understands CFS, it doesn't cure itself in fact there is no real cure . Some have used Nuvigil for energy . I know I took valtrex at the beginning,. 30 years ago. I know that I am going to try Nuvigil. The best of luck to you and hope you find a GOOD DOCTOR that will work with you. ... (6 replies)

... Kat, I don't know anything about private disability, but getting disability with SSDI or SSI can be a long process. I got mine with the help of a Legal Aid lawyer. I'm sure that your documentation from Dr. Lerner would be of help. I had letters from a couple of doctors, as well as letters from friends and family, corroborating the extent to which my cfs impacted my... (7 replies)

... Hi friends! First off I am very sceptical if I will see any results. I am not pessemistic but want to be realistic. I have been sick for 1 1/2 yrs. He explained the cell problem like a car that has no one pushing the gas pedal. If the mycochondria in my cells are not replacing or destroying themselves my body cannot heal. He took a long time explaining this. But it's hard to... (9 replies)
... HI Martin, I am fairly new to this board, but I am interested in your topic. I just started seeing a doctor at the Fibro and Fatigue Clinic, and he is the first one to put me on Valtrex, which is for these viruses that lie dormant and crop up years later, causing symptoms that seemingly have no related illness. It has been a month, and I am starting to see improvement. ... (27 replies)
