As the title says I had my ileostomy with pouch created 6 weeks ago. I'm having a lot of discomfort in the anus still. I still spend much time sitting on the toilet with discharge. Not much comes out at any time but the feeling of having to go doesn't seem to leave. Pain killers seem to relieve the problem for about 6 hour periods but obviously I can't rely on them and nor will the doctors allow me to. I've been trying with Ibuprofin but not much help it seems. The surgeon has suggested this may get better yet but may persist until time of reversal. Anyone have any experience with this, any thoughts?? Right now I don't feel a heck of a lot better than when I went in for the surgery fighting UC flare up for the past year. Thanks for any help.

My father had an ileostomy done on the 30th June which is scheduled to be reversed late September or early October. He too is experiencing a discharge from his anus. He was told by the doctors that it was normal to have some discharge. His discharge was getting worse. One some days he was discharging about a litre of fluid a day. He was constantly on the toilet. He went back into hospital because his GP thought he was loosing too much fluid. The performed a whole lot of tests while he was in hospital to make sure that he did not have any leakages in his bowel but nothing was found to be causing the discharge. He was sent home. For the first time in a long time the discharge seemed to stop for a week. Today it has started up again and my father has to run to the toilet every 5 to 10 minutes. I spoke to his surgeon again and they tell me that there is nothing they can do he just has to wait until it is reversed.
I was wondering if you managed to find a way to slow down or stop the discharge.
My father is getting very depressed now, as he cannot go very far because he needs to be near the toilet all the time.
I look forward to hearing from you.
