... I am sorry that your mother is going through this. I would think the next step would be a colonoscopy. Her CEA levels are slightly raised but as she is a smoker, not much outside acceptable limits. A colonoscopy would certainly rule out the possibility of colorectal cancer. ... My Dad had finally had a pet scan done followed by a biopsy on one nodule in between his lungs. The results were inconclusive but Dr said cells were consistent to those of rectal cancer. There are too many mets in his lungs to remove and he has emphysema so surgery is not an option. ... (9 replies)
