... thanks all, We went for his followup appointment with the dr yesterday and dr suggeted of using baby wipes and also he gave us some sample cream to put inside of the anus to ease the pain. I also found some tricks online, where we let my dad to sit in warm water when he does to bathroom, it not only helped his pain, but also was allowing him to have bowel movement at once... ... Tigerfish: That is because his colon is adjusting to letting acidic material through or not... a cross between acidic diarrhea and normal stool. Not to mention how many times he's having a BM. If the Immodium doesn't help... there is always prescription Lomotil he can add. He may have to take the immodium for a long time. Until his bowel has healed for at least a month or... (6 replies)

... Yes, it should all slow down soon but you could also ask his doctor about taking Metamucil which can bulk up the stool and slow down number of bowel movements. All the best to your dad. (6 replies)

... Daisy: Your Dad may stay at much more frequent than before surgery. It's a great sign he can hold his stool!!! But he may need some bulking agents... either drugs like Immodium, or a fiber supplement. But No Fiber yet, as it may irritate his bowels. His colorectal surgeon will tell him when. Call his Doctor and ask about the Immodium. That should be fine, but best to... (2 replies)
