Re: Lip Reduction

Wow, so you had braces too? How long did you have to wear your braces? Did you get the ceramic or metal bracket? And how did you results come out?
I bet you are like a picture perfect face now;great nose, awesome chin, and perfect teeth!! You are right about paying a decent price for your lips b/c you can't hide that if you get a botched job done on it. At least the body can be hidden. When you had you rhino, how long were you swollen and away from the public for? Did you see you results immediately, or does it really take a year to see results? What type of rhino was it (tip improvement, profile, bump etc). I want to get rhino too but I can't afford to be off from work from one to two weeks and the fact that it takes a year to see improvement is a blower. I really don't need a lot just tip refinement and lenghtening like Halle Berry has. But I was told that I will still be bangaged and swollen for one week. Can you please brief me in a nutshell how the rhino procedure went.

For you lips are you African American? Because when you say augumentation doesn't that mean increasing the lip size? And since you said your lips are wide as oppose to thick what kind of procedure would the doctor be performing to reduce the width? Are you getting both upper and lower done at the same time? Did you send him your lip photos, so that he can assess them? For my case I want to reduce both upper and lower and I'm not sure if that is similar to what you are having done. Did you doctor tell you how long you were going to have to stay indoors for the stitchs to heal. I was told a week and that they are till visible up until a year until it fades. The price is not that bad as it is no major procedure but I want proper clarification before I consult with him. I am thinking about next year too to get mine done when I find the right doctor, as I am just like you cramp for money and have too work tireless to save up. Thanks for answering my long questions.

Okay, I will try to answer all of your questions because I am currently dying of boredom.

1. Wow, so you had braces too? How long did you have to wear your braces? Did you get the ceramic or metal bracket? And how did you results come out?

***I wore my braces for 2 and a half years. I had the clear on top and the metal on my bottom arch. My results are great because I has what my doctor called a "severe overbite." Initially, I wasn't feeling the braces but after 2-3 months, they became apart of me. I wanted that Hollywood smile so bad that I actually kept my appointments and they came off right on time. My results are great!! When I got my braces off, I also got my gums contoured(exposing more teeth and properly aligned around the top.) With the clea braces, people use to think I was wearing a retainer.

2. When you had you rhino, how long were you swollen and away from the public for? Did you see you results immediately, or does it really take a year to see results? What type of rhino was it (tip improvement, profile, bump etc). ***Well, for number one, I am an medium complected African American, and I wanted my tip reduced with a small narrowing of the nose, just enough for it not to look like a nose job. I chose my ps because he too listened to me and my concerns because I have ethnic skin. The rhino didn't hurt but the chin implant gave me problems for it was burning and my lower lip was kinda stiff for about a month. I was back to school in about a week but my chin was kinda swollen. From ethnic rhinoplasty perspective, blacks usually don't bruise like a caucasion would and it has to do with our skin. My nose was swollen but just enough for me and the doctor to notice. My doctor told me that unless you're getting a hump on your nose broken or something of that nature then healing will be pretty good. Lucky for me, my surgeon didn't believe in packing the nose and taping it so all i had were the stiches inside of my nose from narrowing the nostrils. I couldn't bend over for about 3-4 weeks. I had to clean my nose and squirt saline inot it daily. I noticed a difference in the nostrils in about a month and the tip in about 3-4 months. I will be a year post-op in March. I changed my hairstyle about two weeks after the surgery and everyone said I looked different and attributed it to the hairstyle. I told them that I had a tooth pulled regarding the chin being swollen. With me being black, I feel that blacks are less likely to think that someone ordinary could have it and because its so taboo in our culture. In regards to my nose, it came out great, natural looking and no one has suspected a thing. I like to call my nose a refined surgery!

3. Because when you say augumentation doesn't that mean increasing the lip size? And since you said your lips are wide as oppose to thick what kind of procedure would the doctor be performing to reduce the width? Are you getting both upper and lower done at the same time?

***Augmentation means changing and it not only refers to enhancement but reduction but its just associated with enhancing instead of changing. My lip procedure will entail making incisions inside both lips and bringing thecorners closer together. My lower lip will also be slightly raised. I better be getting both done for twenty six hundred dollars don't you think?

4. Did you doctor tell you how long you were going to have to stay indoors for the stitchs to heal. I was told a week and that they are till visible up until a year until it fades. ***I will be in for about a week and the swelling will begin to subside in 2-4 weeks if I take the proper routine in caring for them. My stictches would be dissolvable and they tend to take some weeks but nothing you can't deal with for I had them for my nose. My surgeon told me that the stiches will be invisible. Frankly, I wouldn't get my lips doone if the stiches were visible for that freakin long. I hope I've helped to answer all of your questions. Take care!
