| My 16 month old daughter has Type I diabetes, and about four weeks ago she started having orange greasy stools (really stink) and she has not gained any weight from her 12 mo. to 15 mo. check up (she weight 18lbs). She has had RSV once and several colds. We had a sweat test done on her, she tested boderline, we are having st repeated tomorrow. What does this mean? Do you think she has CF. Thanks! Our son has CF and his sweat test was normal; however, his genetic blood tests indicated the gene mutation DF508 for cystic fibrosis.
But the greasy orange stools could be caused by a number of things. Your daughter has diabetes -- as with CF I believe the pancreas can also be affected by diabetes. Maybe she's having difficulty digesting her food. I'm sure your doctors will figure it out. Don't panic. I have kissed her and she does not taste salty. The foul and greasy stools started about four weeks ago. Thanks! I have kissed her and my lips are not salty. The greasy and foul stools started about 4 weeks ago. Thanks! |
