Just wondering....
May 2, 2011
I was just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to have pancreatic insufficiency requiring creon but not have CF?

My baby is now 18 weeks old and weighs just 9.5 lbs, he has never gained weight properly since he was born, (he is no: 4) no one listened to me that there was something wrong until he fell off the 0.4th centile they then agreed to refer him. However nin the meantime he got gastroenteritis and was very poorly, he couldn't keep anything down other than diorylte. He had many investigations feacal elastase came back 78, negative to blood test screening for CF but they have put him on creon anyway. We have also found out he has multiple allergies which he was exposed to through my milk. He was put on pepti junior but didn't tolerate it very well and weight gain was 20 grams per week. Consultant decided to put him on infantini even though he has a dairy allergy?!?!? At the moment we are waiting results on a sweat test and they have repeated his feacal elastase.

The not knowing is really hard to deal with but I just wondered if anyone else has experienced the same thing as in the creon was started and it didn't turn out to be CF or if it turned out to be nothing and creon stopped??? Am very confused. We have no history of CF that any of our families are aware of and the other 3 children don't appear to be affected by anything??
