... The way it was explained to me is that most CFers are born with normal lungs, but with increased sticky mucus, infections -- lungs can become affected. DS mainly has gi issues -- if he doesn't have enough digestive enzymes his poo is very loose, sometimes greasy -- when he was on formula and we were trying to get the enzyme issue figured out -- they smelled like feta cheese... Sweat Test

... I wasn't really given any special instructions for the sweat test except that my daughter be well hydrated. I was cautioned that if she had vomitting or diarrhea that the test would need to be rescheduled. Two days before the test, my daughter vomited once each day. ... Hi- I'm am mother of a 2 yr old w/CF. For the simple fact that it is in your husbands family, your little one needs a sweat test. It does not hurt and is non invasive. You'll get your results that day. My son was not screened at birth- had frequent, but not greasy or foul smelling stools- at 5 months he got pnuemonia.
