... Hello... If your tooth has been broken a long time and you have an abscess (also known as a 'gum boil' or 'fistula'...looks like a pimple on the gums) you do need some antibiotics. ... I would go see the dentist. You may need to have the sulcus cleaned. It doen't sound very serious, unless you leave it untreated. Even if it is abcessed and needs a root canal, you will only cause yourself more pain and suffering by delaying treatment. I have had two abcessed teeth and two root canals. ... (16 replies)
