... Carrie, I have had several of these done and only with novacaine. You might have some swelling. There will be a few stitches, and some after discomfort, but not really pain. I am not sure of the cost as I do have dental insurance, but it is similar in price to a root canal. Not to worry, if I can do this with only novacaine than how bad can it be!!! You will be fine. ... ... Hi Lawyergirl, I was awake for the procedure and it did not hurt at all. The only thing that slightly hurts is the pinch of the first novacaine needle, after that you are pretty numb. My procedure went very fast. I was in and out of the office in about an hour and that included the time it took to get numb, get xrays, and pay the bill (which I thought was the most painful... ... I was fully awake for mine just used a lot more novicaine than they do for most other procedures. The procedure itself isnt really bad at all. After the novicaine wears off you'll have some pain but they should give you pain medication for that which helps tremendously. You will probably have swelling and maybe bruising but Ice helps tame that down. I was fine the day... (7 replies)
... ry on the root tip and they go through the gum to get to the tip, clean it out and fill it. It's usually done in one visit by an endodontist and you do have stitches in your gum. They give you something to rinse your mouth and painkiller for a couple days, and I had no more problems. ... (8 replies)
