... My swelling took almost a week to go down - the upper lip seems to be the worse spot for any type of oral surgery. You should be putting ice on it the first few days. I did not have to wear a retainer so you may have to call the dentist regarding that question. My stitches disolved on their own in about 2 weeks. The purple color is just from the blood accumulation in the area... (6 replies)

... Thanks a bunch!!!. I'm not having as much done. I'm having a graph on one molar (lower) and he'll be taking bone from the back of my jaw (upper). He will prescribe vicodin for the pain. I hope there won't be much swelling and pain but I'm sure the vicodin will help. (29 replies)
