... I would suggest using a oral surgeon in case there is a complication of the tooth breaking off from the root when the tooth is extracted which would require surgery to remove the root. ... It could be an infection - a more serious one. When they clean the area out are they culturing to find out the right antibiotic to use? Cysts are abcesses that hold infection. Ask to have a full blood test done including white blood count and SED rate. Also ask to have panorax xrays done. Hope this helps. Sorry you are in pain. ... Zoider, I'm assuming from your post that you have never had a tooth extraction? You really need to get to your dentist, the abcess can cause other medical problems. Have you ever taken an antibiotic for something else and not have a reaction? Most dentist don't use pennicillan but other antibiotics. Talking with your dentist about your concerns with the numbing agents... (2 replies)
