A couple of things. How long after you exercised did you test? It's very common for blood sugar to go up during and after exercise and then drop later. How long after you ate did you get the 120+ readings? Also, don't just look at sugar content, any carbohydrate will increase your glucose levels. As to your question. Can people tread the line of diabetes/pre-diabetes? It's possible. Will you be able to? There is no way of knowing. The only thing you can do is try. Have you seen a dietitian and doctor to get advice on what to do?

I took the reading only about a half-hour or maybe 45 minutes after a 30-minute treadmill workout. So perhaps that explains the elevation from 120 to 128. And you're right: It's carbs in general, not just "sugar," per se. That said, I'm consulting a glycemic index book that lists which foods are high-glycemic and which aren't. I've always had a sweet tooth, so I've had to rein that in a bit. :) I do know that I have to exercise more regularly; those four straight 120-pluses came after several days of basically no physical exertion. I think I'll revisit this whole topic with my primary doctor. Thanks for responding. Cheers, D
