Is Hummus w/Pita Bread good for you?
Hummus (primarily legumes and sesame seed paste) can be part of a healthy diet. The usually variety of pita bread is made with refined, white flour . . . so there are certainly better choices.
mr. panicky,
It's hard to find a better lunch choice. Good balanced protein (bean
, seed ) and fiber with monosaturated fats .
A great complete meal.Mmm...hummus and pita bread are some of my favorite foods!! It's a great choice...if you want to make it even healthier, try buying whole grain pita!

with shredded carrot! yum :)
its ok, a bit light on protein though.
id also add a side salad with it for extra variety or but the salad in the pita
wholemeal pita's are a good choice too.
I believe hummus and pita bread are very good for you. Hummus is made of chick peas which are a very good source or fiber. And I agree with the whole wheat pita bread..healthier. I would say 200% better than chips and dip so it definately cant be bad for you. Mmmmm...hummus, I want some now.
Hummus and pita make a great food choice. Good for you and tastes great too! As was mentioned before, whole wheat pita is a great alternative to regular pita. I make my own pita chips for use with hummus or salsa. They are so easy to do. I just slice the pita into eights (like a pizza), place them on a cookie sheet, spray with olive oil and then sprinkle garlic powder over all of that and bake at 350 degrees for a few minutes until crispy and a bit golden. They taste good and have none of the preservatives or other unnecessary ingredients of the store-bought ones.
Hummus is great for you. All that goes in mind is ckick peas, garlic, lemon juice, EVOO, and some tahini. Very good and yummy:)
