Diet & Nutrition Board Index

I'm starting to become sick (almost literally) of my very liberal health-freak diet. Even thinking about another natural peanut butter sandwich on Ezekiel bread gets me a little queasy. I can't call myself a vegetarian because I eat fish, such as salmon and tilapia, as I don't want to lose the health benefits. Nevertheless, I don't know what sort of diet I follow, but I'm getting bored.
A typical day:

Breakfast:
I scoop of 100% egg protein powder, 1/2 of a banana, 1 cup of blueberries, and water or almond milk.
Occassionally will have a slice of Exekiel 4:9 sesame sprouted grain toast with Smart Balance, and/or 1/2 a cup of Grape Nuts cereal with rice or almond milk to be sure I am including enough fiber. May throw in an apple or an orange, depending on how I feel.

Snack-3 hours later: prunes or raisins and almond mix, a Luna bar, Odwalla bar, or 1/2 of a ProBar.

Lunch:
2 slices of Ezekiel 4:9 sesame bread with either peanut or almond butter, a handful of soy chips, and fruit of some sort.

Or, a nice salad if I am purchasing from the hospital cafeteria.

(I should mention that I work in a hospital, which makes it incredibly difficult, if not impossible to consume several small meals throughout the day. I'm lucky if I get to sit down once during an 11 hour shift.)

Lately, I've been having a bowl of Shredded Wheat with soy milk and strawberries or bananas. It's come to the point where I can't even think about "real food."

Snack-Much of the same.

Dinner:
A rotation between-
Kidney and black beans over brown rice with salsa and some veggies (I usually eat lima beans, broccoli, brussels sprouts, or carrots)

A Dr. Praeger's veggie burger on Ezekiel bread with lettuce, tomato, and mustard, with soy chips

A grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich on Ezekiel bread and a bowl of Shredded Wheat or Grape Nuts with some fruit thrown in (blueberries or raisins)

Wild salmon over brown rice with veggies.

As you can very well see, I don't stray from the norm, and I'm beginning to think that I myself am not the norm. My diet is so restrictive that I worry about the potential side effects of following the same meal patterns each day for months on end. I refuse to start eating chicken, turkey, veal, pork, or what have you, and will not take one sip of cow's milk. I will not eat anything with high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, sugar, enriched flour, white flour, bleached flour, partially hydrogenated oils...(all of the bad stuff)

I don't know what to do anymore!!! I went to Wegmans tonight and picked up some tofu, spinach greens, and avocado, although although I'm not sure how I'm going to prepare the tofu or avocado.

Oh, do I need help. I can't live like this!
ANY suggestions?

Or, am I destined to cereal for life?

((All I want right now is a huge blueberry muffin, or a chocolate chip cookie! I would NEVER allow myself to indulge, however. The guilt would have me spitting it out immediately))
