... Yes, I lost about 100lb on the slimfast plan about 18 years ago. Of course over a 1/3 of that was lean muscle tissue that I had to later put back on, as I looked very gaunt and not very healthy. Simple fact is if you consume less calories than your metabolism need to function properly it will make up the difference by cannibalising lean muscle tissue. (7 replies)

The "preferred fuel source" of the body business is certainly arguable, and I don't agree it is carbs, or that the body is deprived by limiting them. But even at that, not all low-carb plans are ketogenic. Most (that I know of, at least) are aiming at evening insulin flows. So, are you asserting that evening insulin... (18 replies)
