... Also taking laxatives on a regular basis can cause dehydration. Like others said it is mostly water that a person will lose, water that is needed by the body not to mention nutrients that the body needs. If your friend wasnt taking in enough water she would probaly experience UTi's, skin dryness, tiredness, headaches , bad breath and cracked skin. Also she could have... (8 replies)

... Everyone is correct -- but taking laxatives regularly will make you depend on them resulting in damage to your GI tract -- it becomes too lazy to have normal BMs. Causing constipation resulting in absorption of toxins and antigens-- bad problems will result!! You don't want to go there!!! Harry (8 replies)

... so initially, after using the laxatives, you will lose weight. but because the weight is simply from water loss, the body will take it right back in order to restore the body to it's normal water level. (8 replies)

... When you take a laxative, it prompts an evacuation of the very end of your intestines. Absorption of nutrients and fats and calories and all that stuff occurs in the small intestines. By the time stuff gets to the large intestines, the only thing that is left to be absorbed is water. So taking a laxative only prompts evacuation of the end of your large intestines, after... ... Using laxatives to lose weight is not effective (does not actually cause a loss of fat/calories), and can be very dangerous. Continued use of laxatives can cause dependence on them. It can also cause health problems. Taking laxatives only results in a loss of water weight, and does not represent real weight loss. Just don't do it. (8 replies)

... that is the worst idea to lose weight! first of all laxatives don't help to lose weight. and if you start taking them regulary your bowel will get used to that, which means you'll have to increase the dose and will not be able to live without laxatives at all. to answer your question there many different forms of laxatives: senna, pills like bisacodyl & many more and others... ... I don't have a scale in the house either so I have to go by how my clothes fit. I want to lose 15-20 pounds too. I tried really hard to eat very little yesterday...I did good until about 2, then I had a cookie, and later on I had some more snacks, plus some girl scout cookies at home. Where is my willpower? I have none. At least I made it to the gym. Hopefully I will notice... (7 replies)

... I buy wheat bran (not wheat germ) at the health food store. It's really cheap and almost tasteless. I sprinkle it on my oatmeal or cereal in the morning. You can also sprinkle it on yogurt and salads. Great way to stay regular. (7 replies)

... LOL, magpie, I like your "poopy salad" recipe. Samizzle, how is your weight loss going? Mine isn't yet. I had one great week of working out, then lsat week was kinda cruddy, but I plan on getting back on the wagon starting tonight. I also stopped taking my BC pill because I honestly felt like I was getting fatter by the minute. (7 replies)

... I think you mean fiber and will make you have a beautiful BM? Apples are #1. You can bake an apple and that should help. If not, then eat more apples or drink apple cider. (Not apple juice, because juice doesn't have fiber...cider does.) I like the 'Poopie salad" method. Just make a big salad in a small mixing bowl. The "poopie salad" ingredients are 1 apple, 1/4 or more of... (7 replies)
... Yah, it is a little more pricey, but that will make up for the money I spend on laxitives. :D No, not that much but still. I've been taking this herb called Triphala(little pricey) for constipation but that isn't working for me anymore, hopefully this gluten free diet does. :) I'm not gonna turn down pasta from somebody if I'm their guest for example, :nono: but...
