I've been dealing with first anorexia and now bulimia for about 6 months now and the road to recovery is LONG and HARD! One day I finally got so sick of the binging and purging cycle and realized that I needed help. So, I've been seeing a therapist for a couple of months now, went to my doctor to have bloodwork done (tests came back normal with the exception of my thyroid and cholesterol) and today I have an appointment with a dietician.
My body is so messed up from the outrageous binges and now I have lost sense of what my caloric intake should be. I exercise like crazy to work off some of the weight gain from my binges, but the darn scale just keeps going up! I'm SO frustrated because I have no idea how much I should be eating to appropriately fuel my body for the exercising.
Has anyone here gone to see a dietician as part of their recovery? If so, did you find that it helped you get back on track with a normal diet and eating habits? I guess I got used to the 105 pounds during the anorexia and now that I weigh 113, (I'm 5'1'') I'm freaking out! My weight fluctuates SO much and I know that it's due to the binging because I don't always purge afterwards. For a while I fooled myself into thinking that it was water retention, but it's becoming apparent that it's all fat. :(
Thanks for reading and any input would be greatly appreciated. I pray for all of us to be successful with our recovery.
