... I just have a Q? for people who are on Trileptal. I've only been on this med for 2 weeks now and I was planning to go out with some friends and was wondering if one drink is going to hurt me? I'm scared but I do like to have a drink every now and then but wanted to be sure it was ok or not. Dont want to ask my Doc cuz I know what he will say...I wanted to talk to someone who... ... Dear Nick- I had 2 petite mals in 1999 and also did not want the drugs and went seizure free until 2008 and I had seizures after 2 heart surgeries and a brain bleed, also corrected by surgery. ... I am 23, and am not on Tegretol, but have been on Trileptal -which is similar- for nearly two years (since my very first grand mal seizure). Epilepsy medications amplify the effects of alcohol, and can make it dangerous if you have 3 or more drinks. Personally, I drink some: I like alcohol, though I know it is not very good for me.
