Yesterday, (thur) I didn't do anything again cause I had school all day, then spent the rest of the evening with my two year old, since she decided to stay awake all evening, by the time she went to sleep, it was 9:30pm, and I was gonna workout but just wanted to relax and watch the tube. I came to the conclusion to skipping my 2 days a week that I go to school, and making it up on saturday and sunday. Therefore, that will make 4x a week cardio, 2x a week strength training. Easier said than done, heh? I plan on doing a 45 minute step video, btw, since I change my routines and do different videos and choreography, is that still considered a good variation regimen? I know that changing your routine is suggested, but I love step so much and I never do the same video 2x in one week. :bouncing:
Actually, I learned everything I know from Naxis. :D

I'm just like you... I read a lot. In the past I've been a semi-professional (or at least semi-competent) in a few endurance-type sports, so I've been working on different things off and on for about twelve years. I've recently been thinking that I might look into getting a PT certification though... if for nothing else to learn all the things I don't already know :D

Plus, I just recently turned forty. And mortality has set in. Nuff said.

Glad I help you... if for nothing else than comic relief. Thanks for the compliment. Welcome to the board.

Hey Philly.
Sorry it took me a good week to find this thread again. I thought I lost you guys!! I think that it's great that you keep on top of the latest research and that you continue to push yourself from what I see on this board. I've been having a difficult time getting motivated again lately. I fell off the wagon since school started in september. I've lost my routine that I had going for the summer so now i'm trying to find some motivation to get back on track. I find reading yours and the others posts really helps me.

Thanks again!!

I can relate, since I've been in school, I do good on my workouts one week, then the next week I'll only get in 2 days and not even want to post it. I'm going to try to do my usual this week, which is workout at LEAST 5 times this week. :bouncing:
I do my own stretches. Learned some of them from my taekwondo school and others I read out of books. I worked my way up to the splits took me a year to work there but I can do it. When I am doing my stretches to warmup for taekwondo people are always asking me if this or that position hurts, I tell them that if you work up to it the stretches don't bother you...they eventually become more relaxing than anything.

The stretches I do are mainly for high kicking so they involve a lot of lower back and hamstring stretching. My stretching routine has paid off for me though...I can throw a near vertical sidekick...I know that kicks that high are just for show, but it's an accomplishment I'm proud of. Especially since a year earlier I couldn't even do the splits and I could barely kick above waist height.

How often do you stretch? I used to do it everyday, but then I started pulling things...don't know if I was stretching too hard or what, but I cut it down to heavy and light alternating stretching days. It worked ok, but I've lost some height on my kicks. I'm thinking about going back to stretching everyday and just taking it easy...longer warmups and no forcing the stretch...just listening to my body more.
I try to do a good yoga session 2x a week for a half hour each. Although, I do stretch for a few minutes before and after EVERY workout.
