Well, I certainly find it impacts the rest of my training routine when I workout abs first. Doing exercises like barbell curls, upright rows, tricep pushdowns etc all seem to be affected by my fatigued abs when I work them first.

Now, doing them in a separate workout to these exercises...ok that may work, but otherwise I see no reason why you can't just work them at the end of a routine. I don't find that they're that fatigued and I still give them a damn good workout.

Comes down to personal preference I guess, but if you're doing a general workout (i.e. not ab specific) then I don't see why doing them first is a particularly GOOD idea...
