From the side i have a great figure and well defined stomach. But from the front and back view suddenly i get very wide, and its awful. It's like all the fat is stored in my love handles and makes me look much bigger than id like. I understand that love handles must be in my genetics and i cant spot reduce. Ive been doing pilates for a few weeks now and its improved the overall definition of my tummy, but the love handles are still there. They say in order to lose weight you must burn more calories than you take in. When i had a gym memerbship last i remember on the calorie counter that it takes forever simply to burn 300 calories.

how do you spend an hour a day and burn off all the food you ate during the day?
Im just really unsure where to start. ive become too self conscious over it.
There is no activity of which I am aware that can burn all the calories you consumed during the day (assuming about 1500) in an hour. It just doesn't happen that way.
To lose a pound of fat you need to have a deficit of 3500 calories, meaning you have to have eaten 3500 fewer calories in any given period of time than your body needed to maintain itself. For example, if you want to lose one pound per week then you need to accumulate a deficit of 3500 calories in that week. So, perhaps you will daily eat 250 fewer calories than you need to maintain your weight and exercise enough to burn 250 additional calories, that's 500 calories deficit per day and 3500 calorie deficit in a week (500x7). Presto! You would have lost a pound of fat at the end of the week. If you eat even fewer calories (within healthy range, of course) and exercise even more than you would lose even more than a pound in that week.
No, there is no magic formula to get rid of the love handles but if you lose some fat, a part of it will come from that area and they will ger smaller. You have to be careful how much weight you are willing to lose just to get rid of the love handles because you might have to go too low (and jeopardize your health) in order to get rid of them to the extent you want. No body is perfect so we must learn to appreciate our own because that's all we have and the persuit of pefection is a futile struggle. Aim for "good enough" instead of "perfect".
