I would agree with everything ol Jmike already said. But concerning the Whey shakes, that's only half of what you need, you need massive carbs too. Right after you have a workout you get a high insulin spike when your muscles absorb more, take advantage of that, a good rule of thumb is a ratio of 2:1 carbs: protein. Whey shakes won't have the carbs, but MRPs, meal replacement powders will, things like Myoplex Mass etc. If you are just going to drink way, before you make your shake, on the way home from the gym or whatever, drink grapejuice or any kind of fruitjuice with a high amount of carbs. In your regular diet, if your bulking, try to eat 1.5 grams of protein for every 1 poind of bodyweight.
