... I would say that you are looking at something pulmonary. If not Asthma, then possibly COPD. Its a disease where the airways arent getting enough oxygen. Both can cause you to be winded upon that type of exertion. Going up stairs isnt the same as riding your horse. ... (4 replies)

... The problem with treadmills are that they propel you. So, I'd guess that the leg muscles that you use to propel yourself up the stairs are the same ones that are getting under used on the treadmill. Go outside and run. ... (3 replies)
... Yeah, it's normal. If you're not going to work up to running and just jump in, then take it easy and expect how you are feeling right now. Running isn't easy, but great cardio never is. Try to insert a couple more days over the two you're doing now. In each jogging session, add a little more each time, it'll take a while to work up to a mile. You may start to get 'comfortable'...
