I would add that the body has a set of movements that basic compound exercises compliment (squat, deadlift, bench press, lat pulldown, bent-over row etc) and therefore the body will react positively when exposed to them. Therefore stick to these and don't try too hard to use concentration type exercises that target particular muscles. (3 replies)

... Just a note on working your abs... Now if you want to gain good hard muscle on your biceps or chest, do you just do about 300 reps of your own body weight to get some good results? I hope you're going to say NO here otherwise I may as well stop now. :-p What you might want to incorporate into your abdominal exercises are some weighted ones to encourage muscle growth etc....
