Your right, let's keep this going as it is a big help to correspond with others with the same problem that the rest of the world doesn't understand. I want to wish you good luck with your current steroid/antibiotic treatment; hopefully it will work for you. Are you using eye drops/ointment also or just the steriods in your eye? As you probably read in my previous posts, the eye specialist that I was seeing is off until October; now I just got a notice that my primary care physician is on an extended medical leave (she was diagnosed with leukemia and has had a bone marrow transplant but they don't know when and if she will return to medical practice). Meanwhile, it has been 3 weeks today since my last erosion - I've just been taking it day by day and hoping for the best. My eye felt very picky each time I awakened during the night and I was sure an erosion was going to happen again but luckily it didn't and I just kept putting in more ointment. Since I made it for 28 days once, I am hoping for at least 29 days this time as then at least I can try to convince myself that things are improving. The only problem with using so much ointment at night is that my vision stays blurry in that eye for a good part of the morning. I try to wipe off as much as possible, but here it is almost 11am and it is still a little blurry. Actually it is a little picky feeling also which is quite annoying.
Just checking in after a while. Glad to see the successes for those on the steroid/doxycyclene (sp?) regimes. Maybe there is hope after all.

I have been erosion free since my PTK on August 4th. My distance vision in that eye seems blurrier than normal, but I can read my computer with that eye, which counts for a lot (my other eye still is blurry at computing distance from previous erosions). Right now I use Refresh plus drops as needed, usually morning and night, and Refresh PM ointment in both eyes at night before bed. So far, so good.

I go for a followup next week. I was supposed to get fitted for rigid lenses to fix the vision in the right eye, but I don't know if that will happen or not now. Not sure I even want to risk that any more. Any RCE folks out there contact lens wearers (other than bandage lenses)?
