Re: Vitrectomy
Apr 16, 2014
[QUOTE=LynnAT;5282597]I had a vitrectomy almost a month ago due to a detached retina. The doctor stated that this just happened because my eyes are so near-sighted. I am really concerned about my vision, and wanted some feedback if anyone has had this type of surgery. I am 39 years old, and I am very active in exercising.
My vision is not at 100% - it seems like out of one eye, I am looking out of a brand new pair of glasses, and out of the eye I had surgery on, it seems like I am looking out of a pair of glasses I had in the 5th grade. Is this normal? Will I get my vision back completely or am I just being impatient?

Thank you,

Hi LynnAT
I had a vitrectomy 3 years ago, and your vision does definately get better over time. My Retina started detaching after I had shingles on the left side of my head. They did not get in my left eye, but my eye swelled really bad. The drs. said shingles had nothing to do with my retina detaching, but I think it probably did. I was 52 when it happend, and I was...... and thankfully , still am, a very active exerciser!!
hope your vision gets better soon,
