I am 55 yrs old and finally (after many years of discomfort), have decided to fix my bunions once and for all. The severity of the damage to the bone joints is probably medium. Does it matter if I go with a Podiatrist or Orthopedic Surgeon or are they both equal in terms of training in bunionectomies? Reading from many of the archives has given me some perspective of what to expect after surgery. Is it a good idea to have consultations with different doctors first? I've also found there are over 100 different techniques that can possibly be used to correct bunions. Any insight on this is appreciated.
