... Hi there I had an ATFL tear and bone bruising of the talus like you. My ortho said the bone bruising can be the worst part pain wise and it will take WEEKS to go away. Don't put weight on it, the more weight getting put through the bruised bone, the longer it will take to settle down. I ended up needing a repair of the ligament I tore. I am a teacher too and I had a surgery that is the same incision as a Brostrom but was for ostephyte removal. I was NWB until 12 days PO and partial to full weight bearing from their in a boot. ...
