... Hi Clem52, Sorry for the late reply and thank you for answering my questions, they were very helpful! My surgery is this Friday, I am feeling quite calm right now, which is very weird, but come the night before and the day of the surgery I'll be living in the toilet!!!! I am kind of hoping that I can fly eight weeks after the surgery-which is both work and pleasure... (16 replies)

... WOW - You have a screw and didn't need any prescription pain meds? I applaud you. Hopefully I will experience the same... I was one of the freaky ones that cancelled my surgery 4 days prior, last week. My foot started feeling so much better after I got new sneakers. ... Amy, I have been going through this state of wondering when to bite the bullet and do the surgery for several years. I am fine wearing my clogs, WIDE sneakers, or sandals. As soon as I try to put my foot in anything else, my feet hurt so badly. I teach preschool so I am not required to wear dress shoes, thank goodness! But I developed arthritis and a bone spur on the top... (17 replies)
... My surgery was on November 22, and it's taking a long time to recover fully. I feel like I was ahead of the curve for the first week or so, but that leveled off. Now I've been stuck at about 95 percent for a month or two. Without these boards I'd be pretty discouraged, but after reading the experiences of others, I think I must be pretty normal! I spent 4 weeks in a... (6 replies)

... Hi Hoppy - I know what you mean - it does feel wierd to "walk" again. My dr told me to ease into sneakers (an hour the first day, 2 the second, etc) and go back to the rocker boot when I wasn't in the sneaker. The first time I put the sneaker on it hurt my foot to get it in (and I opened up the sneaker as much as I could). I've only been in them a week but now I can wear... (5 replies)
... I've been wearing sneakers for most of the day - hooray! Once I eased them past the incision site they felt pretty good, although it also felt good to take them off. I can tell my foot was starting to swell again. But it seems I've forgotten how to walk normally. I've grown accustomed to being sightly off balance, because none of my regular shoes had soles the same... (5 replies)
... I'm glad I logged onto this thread. I, too, am concerned about the ugly looking scar on the top of my foot. As a matter a fact, the rest of my foot isn't looking too good either. It looks wrinkly and it's peeling. I put a little Intensive Care lotion on it but didn't want to get too close to the scar. My stitches were removed 2 weeks after surgery. I'm 5 weeks post-op. ... ... Hi Deb! Well, my first week back to school went pretty well (with the foot, that is!). My head was spinning by the time Friday rolled around. There's always too much paperwork & misc. things to take care of that first week back (as you well know!). I just want to TEACH! My foot did quite well. I was able to put my regular shoes on and I even wore nylons! My foot did... (8 replies)
... Thanks for your replies! I don't regret having the's just that I'm a bit confused on the recovery. I have a fabulous podiatrist and she has been so patient with my numerous questions. She said that I would be fine going back to work next week. I just don't know if I'm supposed to keep the foot jammed in a shoe all day or take the shoe off if it really starts... (8 replies)
